NordSüd is a highly efficient provider of branded road transport and logistics services which is widely recognized for reliability and cost leadership.
As of 2008, NordSüd employs more than 700 people at its seven locations in Germany and the Czech Republic, with a fleet of more than 400 trucks. Argantis as partner The quality of the management team, which had built a strong market position for company on its basis of its tremendous expertise in road transport and logistics, was a key criterion for the initial investment in early 2005. In the following years while Argantis was active as shareholder and partner, the company experienced double-digit growth, with annual revenues growing from 45 to more than 80 million euros. Over this time, NordSüd was able to strengthen its position as a stand-alone business, independent of its original parent company Hella. Powerful new integrated IT systems were implemented, providing ready access to break-even and profitability analysis at the customer level. The liability side of the balance sheet was restructured and further optimized to better reflect actual business needs. During its years as an Argantis investment holding, NordSüd acquired three small German companies and successfully integrated these into its network. The original management team at the first and second levels was further strengthened, and an advisory board was put in place to focus on strategic issues. With its new owner BIP Investment Partners, the company and its management were able to find an excellent financial partner who will continue to provide active and valuable support as NordSüd moves its existing strategic plan into the next phase.
